The divine worship on the consecration of the Church of Theotokos of Kazan

On July 14, 2019, on the 4th Week after the Pentecost, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia carried out the divine worship on the consecration of the Church of Theotokos of Kazan in Meshchersky town and the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church. The Church of Theotokos of Kazan in Meshchersky town was built by DEKRA CONSTRUCTION as part of the Program for the construction of Orthodox churches in Moscow at the intersection of Voskresenskaya Street with Meshchersky Avenue.

At the end of the service, His Holiness was greeted by the rector of the church, protoiereus Alexander Tarakanov, who told about the history of the area and the church that used to be there before. “We have erected this church with Your blessing as part of the Program for the construction of 200 churches,” said the church rector. He presented His Holiness with an icon of the Theotokos of Kazan.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill addressed the audience with a Primatial homily, in which he noted that “This church is the closest to the Patriarch's residence in Peredelkino, one can say, it is one administrative unit. And if for some reason it will be difficult for me to pray in Peredelkino, then I will come to your church.”

The service was attended by the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation L.E. Slutsky; Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, adviser to the Mayor of Moscow, adviser to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia on construction V.I. Resin; Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation A.Yu. Ivanov; First Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma N.Yu. Chaplin; First Deputy Prefect of the Western Administrative District of Moscow V.V. Klimenko; Head of the Council of the Solntsevo District of Moscow E.V. Soroka; benefactors and church construction workers from DEKRA CONSTRUCTION. There was a live broadcast of the Patriarchal Service on the Soyuz TV channel.
